The Serpent & The Wings Of Night - Carissa Broadbent

Fantasy

Rating: 8/10

Oraya is the adopted human daughter of the Nightborn Vampire King, and he has chosen her to participate in a once in a century tribute. One where the goddess of death herself will grant the champion a single prize, one that could change their fate. It can be wealth, or honor, or power. Her wish is to be bound to her Vampire father for eternity.

Vampires from across the kingdoms compete, the most powerful warriors from all three houses, the House of Night, the House of Shadow, and the House of Blood. It is a savage tournament of five trails that will finish with only one winner left standing at the end of this deadly pursuit.

But winning won’t be easy and she is forced to make an uncomfortable alliance with a mysterious rival, Raihn. To say that sparks fly would be an understatement, but maybe the rapport I enjoyed the most was with the third person in their alliance, Mische. She was a sweetheart and fun fact; she is getting her own book, and I am so on board for that!

With the rise in popularity of Fantasy fiction, finding a book that conquers of the pitfalls of the central tropes such as deadly competitions is no easy task. This author triumphantly achieves this on every level. Ingenious world building, with innovative challenges for each of the trails and dynamic characters that leap off the page.

A must read for any vampire book loving reader!
