Butcher & Blackbird: A Ruinous Love - Brynne Weaver - Top Book Pick!

Romance/Horror

Rating: 9/10

I don’t often wander into the romance category, but sometimes a girl just needs to get her groove on. So to speak. And to satisfy my urges, I need there to be more than romance on the page, I need there to be chemistry. And this book is bursting with it!

Despite her preference for fresh corpses, we meet Sloane after she has gotten herself locked in a cell with a rotting, maggot infested serial killer, determined to renounce her wicked ways. Don’t believe her for a second. Rescued by Rowan, another vigilante, this one disappointed to find his prey dead and gone, the two embark on a very unusual path to getting to know each other.

They agree to an annual game of “hunt the serial killer” and honestly reader, I’m not sure this book was supposed to be this much fun.

Tons of teasing banter, romantic gestures and very spicy bedroom antics build with every game.

Footnote: the author provides detailed content warnings you should refer to before diving into this read. I will say this, most of that was off the page. Except for the sex stuff, which was very much on the page.

Another Footnote: the author provides a playlist, which I have yet to listen to, but trust me, no way I am going to miss out on that.
