Thriller/Mystery

Rating: 7.5/10

Opening with our main character Shay witnessing a subway jumper suicide, this book went in a decidedly different direction than I initially presumed. Always a welcome surprise in the ceaseless publishing of mystery and thrillers.

If you are a regular on my site, by now you know that I don’t…and will never…regurgitate the book flap coverage or divulge paragraphs worth of plot.  This is not just a choice but also a necessity when it comes to books in these particular genres.

So, what can I say?  Bitches be crazy. You’ll see for yourself if you choose to read this. And to be clear, you should choose to read this!

An intricate plot with complex motivations, shallow characters and swiftly shifting narration, this book is a perfectly delightful way to spend a few hours escaping the day to day drudge that can creep up on us.

My thanks to the Authors, St. Martins Publishing & Net Galley for the advance readers copy.

Footnote: My favourite part?  Each of Shay’s chapters opens with an excerpt from her “data book”.  Full of facts and numbers and other statistics. A girl after my own heart! Although given what happens to her this is where my sin of envy ends!
