Elevator Pitch - Linwood Barclay

Mystery/Thriller

Rating: 6.5/10

There appears to be a problem with the elevators in New York, one of the most vertical cities in the world.  As people start dying, we have a detective, a journalist and the mayor trying to determine who is responsible and put a stop to it.

I found the author to be off his game here, the characters discordant and the plot scattered.  We had gratuitous elements and convoluted twists all over the place.  As well the addition of an red herring storyline was nothing more than a distraction.

I was neither thrilled nor mystified, but given that I have enjoyed this writers body of work I saw it through.

Footnote: Tip: before you step towards an elevator to get on board, make sure it’s not just a gaping hole.
