Life Will Be The Death Of Me - Chelsea Handler
/Memoir
Rating: 7.5/10
Full disclosure, I have never been much of a Chelsea Handler fan. I always felt that I was supposed to be, but I just couldn’t do it. While I embrace women who are fierce, fearless and astute, angry is another story. And she would be the first to acknowledge that anger was both her starting and her finishing point for a long time.
This latest of her books tells the story of how she hit her limit after the election of that vile Muppet as president and found herself in therapy. Giving herself permission to be emotional and introspective in addition to the biting wit brought me to where I am now, a fan. Finally.
She is raw and candid about the death of her brother when she was nine and the how it changed everything about her life. Losing someone that close at that age is a thing with teeth, a pain that won’t ever go away. Much of her therapy is about finding a way to live with it in a more peaceful way.
A great read that will have you both laughing and crying.
Footnote: You can enjoy this book in three different ways and get something different from each. In printed form, in audio form and in podcast form. The latter of which will introduce you to a cast of support characters that enrich the experience.
