The Silent Corner - Dean Koontz
/Action/Thriller
Rating: 9/10
I have always tried to avoid categorizing writers, applying a pre-conceived notion of what “kind” of books they write. I can tell you from experience that this narrows your reading choices such that you risk missing out on what could be an extraordinary reading experience for you. So, to pigeon hole Koontz as a “horror” writer is to your own detriment as far as this particular book series goes. Here we embark on the trials and tribulations for our heroine Jane Hawk. “I very much need to be dead.” are the chilling words that are all that’s left after her husband takes his own life. This intimate connection in the pursuit of truth is what ensures our heroine has skin in the game. As she uncovers the secrets and conspiracies that appear at every turn she becomes a fugitive on a quest to bring down a diabolical web of evil.
Footnote: Without giving anything away, suffice to say this is not a corner you want to be backed into.
