“I expected more of a reaction the first time I hit her.” With an opening line like that no one could fault you for being wary of unraveling anything to do with this Oliver guy.  Oliver has an apparently perfect life, with a matching perfect wife. Right.  One day he savagely assaults her and leaves her for dead.  And that’s just the beginning.  Expect the unexpected from that first sentence through to the last.  Prepare to be hauled along this guilty pleasure at superspeed.

Footnote: This is probably one of those books that falls into the “domestic-thriller” genre birthed after the success of Gone Girl.  From which you can glean that this is potentially a tale of men and women defiling each other in the name of holy matrimony.  So good fun...
