Bookshop Of Yesterdays - Amy Meyerson
/Drama/Mystery
Rating: 8/10
A delightful story of family, both the one you are bound to and the one you accumulate along the way. This is a place where the staff knows what book you need as if it was a remedy for an ailment that might be plaguing you. The characters are quirky, lovable and imperfect. And they have secrets. These secrets are cleverly unveiled in a literary scavenger hunt bequeathed to our central character after her estranged Uncle dies. The descriptions of the bookshop are vivid and lovely, I could see all the covers in my mind and catch the scent of the aging paper as I read.
Footnote: Almost a eulogy to what a bookshop represents to many of us as they become “lifestyle” stores in order to keep the doors open.
