Rating: 8.5/10

Homer, Tolkien, King, Stoker…this trilogy offers up superb storytelling in the vein of these authors. Stark depictions of both gods and monsters (the human kind) will linger long after the you close the cover. As a voracious reader I find a unique type of enjoyment in books that build worlds and new mythos. Where you don’t get taken so far past the edge of what’s believable that you can’t recognize your contemporaries in the characters. A multitude of virtues and sins are explored to varying depths here, all leading to an often-accepted truth. Nothing is black or white, nor good or evil. Make sure you start at the beginning of the trilogy with Red Rising!

Footnote: Dense to the point I wouldn’t know where to start describing story points. Violent and graphic at times.
