If Something Happens To Me - Alex Finlay

Thriller

Rating: 7/10

Ryan has been reliving the same night in excruciating detail for more than five years. The car door ripping open. The crushing blow to the head. The hands yanking him from the car. His girlfriend Ali’s piercing scream. Waking up with no trace of Ali to be found and only a vague description of the attacker.

Is it any wonder he ends up being the prime suspect? But with no actual proof he is never charged, a small comfort with everyone thinking he is guilty.

When he spots the unknown assailant the same day the car is pulled from a lake, all the old wounds are opened, and he is determined to solve the mystery of what happened to Ali.

As with all this author’s books, readers will be steered on the trajectory of multiple characters with seemingly no connection. Not to worry, he gets you there. Once he is done twisting you in a few knots of course!

A taut, well-paced thriller practically begging to be read in a single sitting. Not to brag, but that is what I did.

Full Disclosure: I saw the twist coming a mile away, which resulted in a smidge of readerly boredom. But that is my problem, not yours.
