How To Solve Your Own Murder - Kristen Perrin

Mystery

Rating: 7.5/10

Can you solve your own murder before it happens? That is the core dilemma at the heart of this cozy mystery.

Frances has spent her entire life trying to prevent her foretold murder, only to be proven right sixty years later, when she is found dead in her sprawling country home. Leaving behind cryptic clues and meticulous instructions for her potential heirs; if they want to inherit her fortune they must solve the mystery of her murder.

Told in two timelines, one being the here and now, the other being back when a teenage Frances’ life takes a hairpin turn with a chilling prediction from a fortune teller: one day she will be murdered. What commences is a lifetime of paranoia and expecting the absolute worst of anyone she crosses paths with.

When Frances’ death finally arrives, aspiring mystery novelist and grandniece Annie, whom Frances never met, is tasked with digging through Frances’ life and relationships to find her killer, forced into a game to compete with others to discover the answers first or lose Frances’ inheritance.

The most compelling part of this story is Annie. She is adrift, trying to work out whose story she is telling and whose story she is living.
