The devil knows his name.
As a teenager, David was a psychic prodigy, operating under the shadow of his occultist father. Years later, as he approaches his thirtieth birthday, the Devil comes to collect on an ancestral debt. David’s powers were apparently inherited by an evil force pulling the strings.
As the curse starts to slowly drain him of his powers, he reluctantly reaches out to his ex-boyfriend Rhys and his wife Moira for help. Complicated by the pending naming of a new head of their magical society, things are about to get messy. And maybe a little dirty, if you know what I mean.
Vibrant and vivid characters will have the reader racing through the pages, despite the story being a little light on the actual magic part.
Tarot cards were all the rage once upon a time and it’s been a blast to revisit that world and the world of assorted occultist delights.
Footnote: as these characters are tied to specific tarot cards in the deck, I thought I would offer up a brief description on what each represents.
The Hanged Man: An enigmatic card. A person who follows their own course and doesn’t seek approval from anyone. One who often watches and waits, languishing in an in-between state until they are ready to make a wise decision.
The Chariot: A card of success. A person who faces you head on, full of confidence which can result in cockiness and ostentation. One whose path is not easy but rewarding.
The High Priestess: A card of mystery and intuition. A person who conveys an inner power with the ability to guide and lead. One who will go deep into understanding the unknown and embrace their instincts.
