I Told You This Would Happen - Elaine Murphy

Fiction/Thriller

Rating: 8/10

I absolutely love a twisted and unsettling thriller cast with dysfunctional families.  Not sure what that says about me, but there you have it.

Carrie can’t have nice things.  Like a healthy relationship with a boyfriend, or the unconditional love of a dog. Or hopes and dreams. She’s spent her lifetime under the thumb of her wretched serial killer of a sister Becca who leaves evidence pointing to Carrie’s guilt at every one of her crime scenes.

Then finally, the day she has been praying for, ding dong the witch is dead. But Carrie knows a thing or two about monsters, certainly those of the human variety. Even when you think they are dead, when you think you have moved on and tamped down the worst of the nightmares, one day you may look up and see them sashaying towards you.

Becca claims she is not responsible for a fresh slew of killings that are suddenly plaguing their small town and Carrie is forced to wonder if she is now caught between not one, but two, serial killers.

This author created a sisterly relationship that is rife with mischief, manipulation, and malicious intent, all delivered with a droll and snarky humor that will have you laughing at inappropriate moments.
