Notwithstanding the references to magic and mystery in the synopsis, which delicately infuse the pages of this book, at its heart this is a love story.  The love of soulmates, the love of friends, the love of home and the love of family. Some of it desperate, some of it healing and some of it destructive.

Emery’s life changed forever the night her best friend was found murdered and the love of her life, August, was accused. When he left with his mother in the dead of night without a word to her, she never got over it.  She has spent years grieving his loss, feeling the pain deep in her bones.

August returns to the remote island he once called home to fulfill his mother’s dying wish; that her ashes be buried there.  He certainly never envisioned that in the burying of his mother he would unearth the decades old secrets of an entire town.
