THE 6 KEYS: UNLOCK YOUR GENETIC POTENTIAL FOR AGELESS STRENGTH, HEALTH & BEAUTY Jillian Micheals

If You Like…Oh She Glows, The Plant Paradox

While I have never bought into any cure all packaged up in a one stop shop delivery system, if anyone can convince me otherwise, it would be Jillian Michaels. Ever since the breakout success of her first fitness video, she has proven to be ahead of the curve. This book explores the myths and misunderstandings associated with aging. Very unique and interesting perspective with detailed research. I will be going for a full read on this one and even if I get one thing out of it, I say hallelujah!

A VELOCITY OF BEING – Maria Popova

If You Like…Bird By Bird, My Ideal Bookshelf, Art Matters

Culture makers, writers, artists, scientists, philosophers and entrepreneurs reflect on the joys of reading. How books broaden and deepen our humanity and how the written word formed their character. I know I say it all the time, but it will always bear repeating; the only true power we will have in life is the power of words. How they should be constructed into meaningful communications, heartfelt declarations and true confessions. And our best cultivation on the use of them is to be found in reading.

HAVE YOU EATEN GRANDMA – Gyles Brandweth

If You Like…Eats, Shoots & Leaves, Sin & Syntax

Our language and the use of it is changing rapidly and this book guides us to our way forward. A hilarious skewering of the linguistic horrors of our time and some tips on how to correct them. I was hooked from the start with an examination of how some renowned world leaders made their points in words. When you put the greats (Churchill, Prescott) up against the disasters (Trump) it certainly serves to bring home the authors point.

BAD ADVICE – DR. Venus Nicolino

If You Like…I’m Not Okay, Neither Are You, Promised Land

With a subtitle of “How to survive and thrive in an age of bullshit”, how can you not want to read this? The anti-self-help tome for those who are done with shiny, happy advice that gets you nowhere. Prepare for some bracing truisms.
