Lying In Wait - Liz Nugent

Mystery/Thriller

Rating: 7/10

This follow-up release to the authors debut, Unravelling Oliver, explores a different type of domestic strife. That of a likely sociopathic mother who has a rather distasteful level of banality in regard to her role in the violent deaths that mark some pivotal moments in her life.

And yes, that’s deaths, plural.

I found this book more disturbing and far less amusing than the previous and rated it as such. While the characters were as loathsome and creepy, I didn’t find them as interesting which was a teensy bit disappointing.

Footnote: Another stellar opening line here…”My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it.”
