If on all hallows eve you are like me; single, childless and a huge Stephen King fan, it’s possible you had an expectation of a scary tale when sitting down to read the book he dropped the day before. Well you would have found yourself both tricked and treated. This is a poignant story of an ordinary man who has an extraordinary condition. Its about his choice to live with bravery, dignity, kindness and humor.

The elevation of this story is a thing both literal and figurative. It depicts beautifully how a single action you take can have real significance, how only a few moments of your time can imprint on the heart of another. I believe the author is inviting us to find this within ourselves in the course of our daily lives. To give more thought to the small choices we make and the people we can touch along the way.

Footnote: Many folks I know frequently lament the lack of time to read. You can read this in the same amount of time it would take to watch a movie, finish a pot of coffee or get lost down a web surfing rabbit hole.
