The Dinner List -Rebecca Serle
/Drama
Rating: 8/10
We have all engaged, at one time or another, in that getting to know you question; if you could have dinner with any five people, dead or alive, who would you choose? This novel is that list realized. As this cast of characters take their seats at Sabrina’s table, save for the one that is obvious, we are unsure as to who is living and who is dead. It is the unveiling of those truths that leave the reader feeling alternately hopeful and wistful. The story acts as a catalyst for accepting the past and moving towards the future. Establishing in the gentlest of ways that life changes, that people you cannot imagine being part of your daily life are sometimes drawn in a different direction. I found the book as much about holding on as letting go.
Footnote: Who are your five? Mine, as of today; Stephen King, Jimmy Page, Keanu Reeves, George Michael, Gianni Versace. Only one would I like to go home with ;).
