The Return Of Ellie Black - Emiko Jean
/Mystery/Suspense
Rating: 7/10
Most missing girls’ stories end when the girl, alive or dead, is found and her attacker is captured. But in this thriller, the book begins when Ellie is found, and the mystery of what happened to her only deepens.
Detective Chelsey Calhoun’s life is turned upside down when she gets the call that Ellie Black, who disappeared years earlier, has resurfaced. But something’s not right with her. What is she hiding? She won’t say where she has been or who she was with, and Chelsey needs to get to the bottom of it before another girl is taken.
With a dual narrative the author pulls us back and forth in the timeline, leaving breadcrumbs for the reader to follow. Straying from what could have been a run of the mill police procedural and creating something unexpected.
If you are a devotee of thrillers and crime stories looking for a plot that will blow your mind, this isn’t likely going to accomplish that. It will however engage and entertain you.
