Unfortunate Side Effects Of Heartbreak & Magic - Breanne Randall

Fiction

Rating: 8/10

Picture a literary mashup of elements from Practical Magic & Gilmore Girls, and that is what you are in for with this utterly charming read!

Sadie thought it was going to be just another day, but when she hit bad omen number four, she knew she was in trouble. Seven bad omens in a row meant a nightmare was around the corner. She should have locked herself away for the rest of the day.

In the family, the gift of magic comes with a curse, and just like the magic, everyone’s was different. Sadie’s was four heartbreaks and she still had two to go.

With a hodgepodge of quirky and delightful characters, I embraced this book for what it was and nothing more. A light and effortless read, not to be taken too seriously.

The Good(ie)s: Can you imagine your baked treats having a little something extra? All the cards in Sadie’s bakery case tell you what emotion or essence that particular goody will inspire. And the book has a handful of recipes. My mouth is watering!
