Listen For The Lie - Amy Tintera

Thriller

Rating: 8/10

What if you thought you murdered your best friend? And if everyone else believed so too? Does the truth even matter?

After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. And given that she has no memory of that night, she can’t exactly hold it against them.

When she is lured home for her beloved Gran’s birthday, turns out she’s been brought there for altogether different reasons. Ben, a journalist who has charmed her Gran, has released a podcast about Savvy’s killing and wants to interview her, insisting all he wants is the truth. Lucy decides she is tired of not knowing and agrees, not truly grasping what she has signed up for.

Along the way she will discover that the people around her have crafted a narrative on her behalf. Taking fragments of truth and fusing them into something resembling a full and finished story.

This is a very solid thriller, but the part I liked best. The banter. Love me some good banter, even in the most uncomfortable moments. Maybe especially so.
