My Head Has A Bellyache - Chris Harris (Author) & Andrea Tsurusmi (Illustrator) - Top Book Pick!
/Children’s Poetry
Rating: 9/10
Maybe it’s because I have a new kiddo in my life whose library I am passionate about shaping, but this is the second book of awesome poems for children I have reviewed this year, and we are only three months in!!
Starting with that title, this collection is sweet and silly and full of what the author describes as nonsense. And I think we so called “grownups” could use a bit more of that in our lives. Don’t miss the quirky page numbering, just more to delight in!
Just to give you a taste of what you are in for…here’s a snippet from A Big Comfy Chair, And A Brand-New Book. In other words, my idea of heaven.
A big, comfy chair and a brand-new book,
The rest of the world? It can wait for a while.
Open these pages. Come In! Take a look.
It’s time to forget all your troubles and smile.
Forget every worry. Forget every care…
The money you’ll need for that bathroom repair…
Your dad as he’s letting out swear after swear…
Your dog, who’s relieving himself on a stair…
Your sister, who right now could be anywhere…
Tune all that out, none of them can compare…
To your brand-new book and a big, comfy chair.
