Drowning - T.J. Newman
/Thriller
Rating: 8/10
A perfect summer read! Instead of getting your adrenaline rush in a dark movie theater with the latest action flick, you can read this fast-paced thriller while basking in the sunshine. Trust me, it will be just as effortless and entertaining!
Mere moments after takeoff, flight 1421 crashes into the ocean. What started off as a plane became a ship when it hit the water. And when it started to sink, well they call that a submarine. But it’s not built for sustaining life underwater, so a daring rescue mission is the only hope the final survivors have of making it out alive.
This author has a knack for developing memorable characters without ever sacrificing pacing, a feat not easily accomplished. Capturing the action from the perspectives of various passengers as well as assorted rescue crew members, the pages practically turn themselves. I gobbled this up in a single afternoon!
I am so pleased that this sophomore offering from the author proved that Falling, her full throttle debut, was no fluke!
Footnote: I had fun reading all the mashup comparisons! Here’s a few to share…
Apollo 13…underwater
The Poseidon Adventure meets The Martian
Speed…on an airplane
The Abyss meets Die Hard (that one is mine!)
Book Pairing(s): Falling by T.J. Newman, Safecracker by Ryan Wick, Nameless by Dean Koontz
