The Kind Worth Saving - Peter Swanson

Thriller

Rating: 7/10

Henry Kimball, former teacher turned private investigator is suspicious when an old student, Joan, shows up at his office out of the blue. She is intent on engaging his services in following her husband to confirm he is in fact a cheat and a liar.  But Henry needs a little convincing. You see, he always sensed there was something off about her, and years later he still can’t shake that feeling.

Told in alternating chapters, not only by them but by others in the mix, this is a read that hit’s all the notes one expects in a proper thriller.

To avoid a minefield of spoilers, I will leave my sharing of plot points right there.

I was a smidge worried for a hot minute that readers were not going to get any plot twists.  Forgive my doubt Mr. Swanson, you did not disappoint!

Footnote: This novel reprises the main characters from Swanson’s earlier book, A Kind Worth Killing.  While you don’t necessarily have to read it first, I recommend you do. It will give you a deeper background on a couple of our players.
