Once Upon A Time...

The Gift Of Reading To Children…

Children’s books have the magical ability to distill what is truly important in a finite number of words. No matter our age, if we choose to turn the page on a storybook, we will feel that sense of nostalgia for the whimsy and wonder that they offer. Through tales of adventure that are rife with imagination, we will find ourselves.

Among this very special collection you will find fractured fairytales, told with exquisite illustrations and magnificent story’s. You will find tales of fitting in and standing out. You will laugh out loud at the crayons on strike, the endless farts, the pampered cats and sleepy sloths. You will embrace the snuggly hugs and the coolest alphabet book ever. And you will want to board a rocket ship in the cloak of night and the elevator to everywhere.

I could choose to be more expansive on my feelings about reading to children, but this says it all for me.

A Poem That Says It Best…

I opened a book and in I strode

Now nobody can find me.

I’ve left my chair, my house, my road,

My town and my world behind me.

I’m wearing the cloak, I’ve slipped on the ring,

I’ve swallowed the magic potion.

I’ve fought with a dragon, dined with a king

And dived in a bottomless ocean.

I opened a book and made some friends.

I shared their tears and laughter

And followed their road with its bumps and bends

To the happily ever after.

I finished my book and out I came.

The cloak can no longer hide me.

My chair and my house are just the same,

But I have a book inside me.
