Just Another Missing Person - Gillian McAllister
/Thriller
Rating: 7/10
What if a crime isn’t a crime after all? What if a missing person isn’t who you thought they were?
Olivia has been missing for one day and counting. Last seen entering a dead-end alley and not coming out again. Julia, a veteran investigator, expects the pressure of the ticking clock she is up against. What she doesn’t expect is to find a masked man in her backseat, threatening to expose a secret that could blow up her entire life unless she plants evidence. And not just her own life either.
It might turn out she is willing to make a deal with the devil and embrace corruption to keep those secrets buried, where they belong.
A deeply layered mystery that illustrates the relationship of parent and child through multiple sets of characters. How all-consuming it is and how murky it can make right and wrong if faced with the need to defend and shield from harm.
In terms of rating, I applaud the unexpected first twist, a doozy for sure, but the last? An unnecessary and convoluted add on that only resulted in a hiccup to the flow of the story.
