Come out come out, wherever you are…
A nostalgic chant from a childhood game that the characters in this summer slasher read will have resounding in their heads by books end. And not in a good way.
This engaging story follows fourteen individuals who have been invited to participate in a challenge to spend a week hiding in a deserted and broken-down amusement park and not get caught.
Every day starts off with each of them seeking the best place to hide until sundown, when they are allowed to return to camp. Each night ends with two fewer contestants.
Between the ultimate in ghoulish atmosphere, deeply flawed and absorbing characters, and the slow unveiling of the parks history, this novel creeps up on you. The game is not what it seems, the hunt is merciless, and the fear is primal.
I can’t say too much more without spoiling the reveal of what becomes of each of the contestants as they are eliminated, but I will say its worth finding out!
As a little hint, I should have known this wouldn’t end well when it was uncovered that back in the day the park goers had to purchase a sin to enter. Lust, envy, greed, sloth, gluttony, pride, or wrath. So, all the good ones…
