A Game Of Fate - Scarlett St. Clair
/Romance
Rating: 7/10
Hades, God Of The Dead and King Of The Underworld is having a midlife crisis. Bored with the never-ending stream of death that surrounds him, his cynicism and discontent grow with every passing day of his immortal life.
In the contemporary world where this imaginative retelling is set, Hades is known for his inflexible rule, luxurious night clubs and getting his way.
Then one day a young woman, Persephone for those of you needing a reminder of your Greek Mythology, awash with light and joy and the untapped power of her heritage walks into his life and the Fates dangle his deepest desire in front of him; to love and be loved.
But the Fates always require balance; a wish granted is a debt owed. The question is, who will have to pay it and can they bear it’s price.
This first in a series introduces the reader to the other God’s and perfectly sets up what we might have to look forward to in their stories.
P.S. Unsurprisingly I was delighted by the portrayal of Hades library. Floor to ceiling bookcases full of volumes that contains the detailed life of every human, creature, and God.
Book Pairing(s): The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh, Circe by Madeline Miller, Food For The Gods by Karen Dudley
