/Thriller
Rating: 8/10
As you might discern from the title, this book is about secrets. Secrets from the perspective of a woman who is many things; a lawyer, a sister, a daughter, a savior, and maybe even a murderer.
Ellice walks into work early one morning to meet with her boss, who is also her married lover, only to discover him dead. At that moment she makes a choice, one that will change everything from that moment on, one that some might consider reprehensible. She backs away from the scene, goes to her own office and let’s someone else discover the crime.
So ends one secret with this man and begins another. But once you start finding out about her past, you won’t blame her. Invited to the widow’s house, a mistress’s worst nightmare, she is blackmailed into finding out the truth about the death.
A taut thriller that is also a searing story about the secrets we can never seem to leave behind. Every lie you tell, every secret you keep, is a fragile little thing that must be protected and accounted for. One misstep, one miscalculation, and your little prejuries can topple the perfect life you’ve built around them. Leaving it in shambles around your feet.
