Safecracker - Ryan Wick (Replay)

Thriller/Fiction

Rating: 9/10

As I finish up the review I am posting on Thursday July 22nd of Falling by T.J. Newman I wanted to bring forward another stellar, action packed debut novel from 2020.

Propulsive from start to finish, reading this book was as good as watching a quality action film complete with fights scenes, car chases and close calls!

A sophisticated and charming burglar finds himself witnessing a murder after ducking out of sight while on a job. And it’s downhill from there…we have crazed assassins, psychopathic drug lords and assorted criminal geniuses.

The pace is savage, the action gritty, the crime masterful and the characters vividly drawn.  Both the good guys and the bad guys.

Reads with action this cinematic, elaborate and meticulous are few and far between and I highly recommend the pure escapism it offers. Think John Wick meets Jack Bauer, with John Krasinski starring in the movie version.

Not to mention it has a great opening line,  “I had my throat slit in the back corner of Alistair’s Pub.  Which was equally infuriating and unfortunate.”

Thanks to Net Galley, the Author and St. Martins Press for the advance reading copy.
