Crib Notes-Monster Mash!

I was a huge fan of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series, a show that found a way to have its teen soap opera vibe and eat it too.  Cast with a motley crew of monsters that required vanquishing, teen heroes full of snark and pithy one-liners, and not a cliché to be found.  You might say that the novels of A. Lee Martinez offer a similar style of outrageous supernatural stories. So, if you like a little laughter with your fright, check these out!

GIL’S ALL FRIGHT DINER

At Gil’s All Night Diner, you never know what might be lurking in the freezer. A vampire and a werewolf are called on to help the eatery’s owner deal with her zombie problem.  Turns out the shambling dead are just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll meet undead cows, a jailbait sorceress, an amorous ghost…and that’s only part of it!

EMPEROR MOLLUSK VERSUS THE SINISTER BRAIN

Emperor Mollusk.  Intergalactic Menace. Destroyer of Worlds.  Conqueror of Other Worlds. Mad Genius. Ex-Warlord Of Earth.  What’s a villain to do after he’s done…everything?  While he’s trying to stave off eternal boredom, assassins of a legendary death cult and an up and coming megalomaniac have marked the Emperor for their own nefarious purposes.

CHASING THE MOON

A woman moves into the perfect apartment.  One that she thought might be too good to be true.  Because it was. The apartment already had tenants, monsters with disturbing powers.  Then she finds out she is forbidden from ever leaving this literal hell hole.

DIVINE MISFORTUNE

Teri and Phil had never needed their own personal god. But when Phil is passed up for a promotion, again, it’s time to up their game.  Choosing a god isn’t as simple as you would think.  So many to choose from and hefty price tags for their devotion to your needs.  And payment is not always due in dollars.
