A Good Man - Ani Katz
/Thriller
Rating: 8.5/10
Let’s be clear about one thing right off the bat…there is not a good man in this book. But there is an intriguing one, with a captivating story.
Thomas is a devoted family man whose life appears enviable and idyllic in every way. A beautiful and sophisticated wife, a bright daughter, a prestigious job and a hero to his troubled mother and sisters. But he has a confession to make…and you the reader are going to want to stick around to hear it. You will be equally unsettled and absorbed by the end of the first page.
This book oozes with dread, ushering us slowly through twists and turns that will have you holding your breath as the conclusion looms ever closer. This talented author ensures that the reader feels the moral peril of the character. After all, the most enduring fictional monsters are the ones we have to concede reflect parts of ourselves.
Footnote: Masterful control of mood and pacing that delivers a nuanced tale of suspense told to us by the ultimate in unreliable narrators.
