Talented Miss Farwell - Emily Grey Tedrowe
/Fiction
Rating: 7/10
Rebecca Farwell is juggling two separate lives; one as Becky, a quiet single woman who works for the small town she has lived in her whole life and still resides on the farm she grew up on, and Reba, a city girl who is the epitome of wealth and style who has spent years amassing a highly valuable art collection.
What we find out is that Becky has been dipping into the town coffers to fund her passion and we are left to wonder how long she can continue to pull this off.
The author does a spectacular job of demonstrating the mindset of a character who justifies her criminality by reassuring herself with acts of goodness peppered along the way. Compartmentalizing at its finest!
A worthwhile read to see the journey from plucky financial wizard to polished con artist.
Footnote: This appears to be the year of financial crimes books…do I sense a new genre trend? A girl can dream…
