Diary Of A Murderer - Young-Ha Kim
/Thriller
Rating: 7/10
At times the unspooling of a story in your head can be much more frightening than what’s actually on the page. The blasé tone in which this author conveys some extremely disturbing story elements will have you squirming in your seat. But the calculated writing style may well leave you in awe.
“What drove me to kill wasn’t an all-consuming urge or some sexual perversion. It was disappointment.”
The title feature in this book of short stories is narrated by a former serial killer stricken with Alzheimer’s. He believes there is a new bad guy in town who is stalking his daughter with a dark intent to kill. Need I say more?
Footnote: A stellar showcase of what is known in the book world as an unreliable narrator. If you are a reader who does so with care you will catch the nuances of truth throughout. They can be hard to spot!
