Let me say this about Carl Hiaasen, he is a shrewd, unfailing, sharp, dry comic genius. As evidenced by the following:

“When a company is purchased by a chain, the first order of business is to assure the employees that their jobs are safe, and that no drastic changes are planned.  The second order of business is to attack the payroll with a rusty cleaver and start shoving people out the door.”  Tell me we haven't all been there right?

But you get my point.  This latest escapade has us in the company of Jack, a speak out, tell it like it is reporter relegated to the obits where much hilarity ensues.  Well, you know what I mean.  As he prepares a sendoff for a faded rock star, he finds more questions than answers…
